   We will no longer accept paper applications.
 
 All new building permit applications and inspection requests will be 
 completed online. Any permits issued before this date will continue to use 
our old system and procedures until your permit is closed out.

Building Code Information

The Building Regulations are Title 10 of the Village Code. For Building Regulations, find Title 10 on the left hand side of the screen.

International Code Council

On November 10, 2022 the village Board of Trustees adopted the 2021 International Code Council (ICC) family of codes, with referenced standards. To access these codes and local amendments see Building Codes and Amendments. You may also view the 2021 ICC codes online at the International Code Council.  You may also view the State of Illinois amendments at its website the Illinois Energy Codes were effective on July 1, 2019.

Energy Code Compliance

The State of Illinois has adopted and amended the International Energy Conservation Code.  Printed and digital copies of the model IECC may be purchased directly from ICC. Printed copies of the model IECC may be viewed at the Development Services Department in the Village of Oak Brook Butler Government Center 1200 Oak Brook Road (the building is located at Spring Road and 31st Street/Oak Brook Road - located at the west end of the building) or at the Village of Oak Brook Public Library located at 600 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook, Illinois. More information regarding the library hours can be obtained by calling by phone at (630) 368-7700.

Renovations

Note: Important Information for homes and child care facilities constructed before 1978: If you are planning to renovate 6 square feet or more of painted surfaces in a room for interior projects, or more than 20 square feet of painted surfaces for exterior projects in housing, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978, Please read the Renovate Right brochure (PDF).

Bond & Fee Schedule

The Bond and Fee Schedule is approved by the Board of Trustees and is periodically updated. It can be used to help estimate building permit fees and bonds when required. Call the department at (630) 368-5101 to confirm the current fee schedule.
