Welcome to the Oak Brook Police Department homepage. My name is Terry Mee, and I am proud, honored, and privileged to serve the very fine Village of Oak Brook and its residents, businesses, and other community partners in my position as the Interim Chief of Police. The Oak Brook Police Department is comprised of forty-one full time sworn Police Officers, ten non-sworn civilian staff members, and, currently, three sworn Auxiliary Officers; all committed to providing the very best municipal law enforcement services to our community. The Oak Brook Police Department is a national and state-accredited Police Department through the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP); two well-respected accreditation programs.
The Oak Brook Police Department is staffed by highly trained professionals who are committed to a community-oriented police service philosophy. We take pride in providing a high level of service to the community and to those who visit or partner with us for one reason or another. One of our ongoing partnership programs is the Homeowners’ Association Liaison Officers’ Program (HALO). HALO is a collaborative effort between the Police Department and the twenty-seven separate homeowners’ associations that make up the residential portion of Oak Brook. Identified Police Officers that are assigned to each homeowner’s association serve as the primary conduit of information and contact between the Police Department and those residents.
The Village of Oak Brook is a full service community located on the eastern DuPage County border along the I-88 Reagan Memorial Tollway Corridor. Oak Brook is the home to Oakbrook Center (the second largest shopping mall in Illinois), HUB Group, Inc., Ace Hardware’s corporate headquarters, the Chamberlin Group Corporate headquarters, and many other international and national corporations, retail establishments and restaurants. The Police Department partners with those organizations to provide up to date crisis training and collaborative efforts to insure the safety of staff, residents, and visitors.
Along with our general community policing efforts, the Oak Brook Police Department’s Support Services Division works closely with area schools and the Oak Brook Park District, and provides the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program, Alive at 25 (a driver awareness program for young drivers, ages 15-24), a community speaker’s bureau, and security surveys for both residential and commercial properties. We also hold an annual Citizen Police Academy, a quarterly Coffee with a Cop program, and National Night Out. The Investigations Unit is comprised of six general case Detectives and a Detective Sergeant that investigate approximately 500 criminal offenses per year; and a two Officer SRT (Special Response Team), dedicated to and assigned to the Mall.
Please take a few moments and explore our website. I hope that you will benefit by the information that we’ve provided in our various Department and service areas; and understand that we continue to be committed to our organizational values of Loyalty, Honor and Teamwork. Thank you to all!
