In 2016 the Department was awarded Full Accreditation status for four years from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and in 2018, the Department received Accreditation from the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP). The CALEA professional certification expires in 2020, where we will once again host Assessors to review our policies and proofs of compliance.
The primary purpose of CALEA is to improve law enforcement service by creating a national body of over 400 standards developed by law enforcement professionals. CALEA accreditation serves as a strong foundation to assist the Oak Brook Police Department in attaining the high level of professional service it provides to the community. In July, the on-site assessment was conducted by two CALEA assessors. The Assessor Team sent us their report on October 18, 2016 and stated The Oak Brook Police Department to be a professional law enforcement agency committed to providing high quality police services to its community. The agency provides excellent leadership and is staffed by professional, highly competent, dedicated and caring officer and employees. The Assessors also commended Chief Kruger for his very strong commitment to the CALEA Accreditation process. Review the entire Assessment Report (PDF).
